Here we do not throw anything, despite the tails of fish found hanging out at the edge of the Atlantic ocean. It’s 6 pm, just arriving in the village of fishermen on the beach of Songolo, in Pointe Noire. The air is heavy, the atmosphere is not usual. The sound of the waves paced to the cries of birds that hover on the surface do not prevent herons dogs to eat lost fishes. Few traders awaiting the arrival of canoes are disappointed with the announcement: because of the abundance of freshwater fish in the market, fishermen are forbidden to go to sea because of the influx of the unused stock.

For young schoolchildren on vacation, this is the opportunity to enjoy the season during which the fish prices are affordable. Traders; in view of the quantity of the product, seek labor with resourceful young people. A few meters, smoke comes out of a camp,  the smell accompanying it probably shows an intense activity must be going on there.

There is a pace of work by youths, shirtless, aligning the pieces of wood in the ovens, before placing the fishes to choke and be smoked. For wholesalers, sellers,there is  no time to lose, they have to  placed their order or wait a few hours for the merchandise to be ready. Youth in turn in the sweltering reinforce the wood in a festive atmosphere. They are aware of win a little money, for some dancing with joy, this can allow them to purchase some school supplies at the beginning of next year. Indeed, times are difficult for parents because of the fall in price of a barrel of oil in the producing town. At least the sea will never go dry of fish..
